Event Summary

The Butterfly Run Quinte was started in 2016 by three local moms wanting to fundraise and support families who have experienced a loss during pregnancy or the loss of a child.

This local event is organized in partnership with the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. All funds are delivered to the Pediatric Bereavement Fund supplying resources for Quinte 7/Labour and Delivery and the Emergency Departments of all Quinte Health Care sites.

With funds raised from the 2016 run, Barb, Beth and Loralee have provided over 550 kits to Quinte 7 and ER departments for Quinte Health Care (Belleville, Picton, Trenton and Bancroft). Compassionate care training was also provided for hospital staff, and equipment was purchased for Quinte 7/Labour and Delivery.

The 2nd annual Butterfly run will take place on Sunday May 7st, 2017 at Zwicks Centennial Park, Belleville Ontario. The event will feature a family walk, a 5km walk/run and a 10km walk/run. The family walk is free for kids 12 and under! Participants who have registered for the 5k walk/run or 10k walk/run may participate in the family walk at no additional charge.

Swag & Door Prizes

All registered adult participants (family walk/run, 5km & 10km) receive a T-shirt if registered by April 1st 2017.  The opportunity to

purchase additional t-shirts will be provided when you register and on race day for $20.00 each (limited quantities).

First 100 Participants registered for the 5km & 10km event will receive a water bottle.

Kids 12 and under will receive a finishers medal for the family walk/run.

 

Door Prizes
We were fortunate to have an abundance of generously donated draw prizes. Draw prizes will be done while you are running and
will be put on a table with your name on them in the registration tent for pick up when you have finished

Race Day Schedule

  • Registration 8:00am - 9:00am
  • Opening Ceremony - 9:00am
  • Family Walk - 9:30am
  • 10km 10:00am
  • 5km 10:00am

Rules

 

  • Dogs are welcome, but please have them on a leash at all times in the park.

  • Headphones are allowed but please show courtesy to other runners who need to pass, or race staff at check points helping with directions 

  • There will be many participants running in groups, please allow space for passing runners.

  • Strollers are permitted

  • No bikes please

 

 

Important Information

 

  • We have a cap on the number of registrants for both the 5km walk/run (timed) and 10km walk/run (timed) of 400 participants. There is no cap for the 5km walk/run (untimed) and 10km walk/run (untimed)

  • We are offering timed and untimed events this year. Many participants from the 2016 event simply wanted to take part and finish the run/walk and did not display their bib or required their time. We will be able to accommodate more participants for the event if those who wish to not be timed, don't select the timed event while registering.

  • Race kit pick up - May 5th - 10:00 am -3:00pm at the Belleville General Hospital Foundation located just inside the Sills entrance. You will not have to pay for parking, they will validate it for you. May 6th 10:00 am - 4:00pm at Body Maintenance located at 444 Dundas Street West Belleville.

 

 

 

 

  • Please place your bib on the front of your clothing in your abdominal area so that it is visible. If the timing staff can't see your bib you will not have a recorded time.

  • If you are unable to come and you want to give your spot to someone else this is acceptable but you must notify us in advance. There will be no switches after May 4th/2017. There will be no refunds or deferrals for any reason.                

 

Suggestions of what to bring

  • Be prepared for the weather, the event will take place rain or shine.

Course Information

  • We will be on the waterfront trail, there may be puddles, mud, sticks and you may have to move off of the path to go around groups of runners.

  • Markings - we will have KM markers in place along the route and volunteers placed to help ensure people are following the correct path.

  • There will be water stations along the route. Food and water will be available at the end of the run.
