Event Summary

The Butterfly Run Quinte was started in 2016 by three local moms wanting to fundraise and support families who have experienced a loss during pregnancy or the loss of a child.

 
This local event is organized in partnership with the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. Funds collected for the 2020 season will be directed toward the Child Bereavement Fund as well as equipment purchases for the maternity/pediatric floor of Belleville General Hospital. 
 
With funds raised from the three previous runs, Barb, Beth and Loralee have provided over 550 kits to Quinte 7 and ER departments for Quinte Health Care (Belleville, Picton, Trenton and Bancroft). Compassionate care training was also provided for hospital staff, and equipment was purchased for Quinte 7/Labour and Delivery.  The Butterfly Girls are also currently working with Quinte Health Care to develop a specific delivery room and family suite for bereaved families on the maternity floor.
 
The 4th Butterfly Run will take place on Sunday May 3, 2020 at Zwicks Centennial Park, Belleville Ontario. The event will feature a family walk and 5km walk/run. The family walk is free for kids 12 and under! Participants who have registered for the 5k walk/run may participate in the family walk at no additional charge.

Receive a free t-shirt with your paid registration if registered by April 11th, 2020

All participants will receive a finishers medal for the 1k family walk/run and 5k walk/run

Important Information

Race Day Schedule

  • Registration 8:00 am - 9:00 am
  • Opening Ceremony - 8:30 am
  • Family Walk - 9:30 am
  • 5 km 10:00 am

Rules

  • Dogs are welcome, but please have them on a leash at all times in the park.

  • Headphones are allowed but please show courtesy to other runners who need to pass, or race staff at check points helping with directions 

  • There will be many participants running in groups, please allow space for passing runners.

  • Strollers are permitted

  • No bikes please

 

Important Information

  • Race kit / t-shirt pick up - May 2nd, 2020 - 10:00 am -3:00pm at Quinte Massage Therapy, located at the Bay View Mall 470 Dundas Street East (Medical Offices Entrance on North West side of building).

  • If you are unable to come and you want to give your spot to someone else this is acceptable but you must notify us in advance. There will be no switches after April 30th, 2020. There will be no refunds or deferrals for any reason.

  • Be prepared for the weather, the event will take place rain or shine.

Course Information

  • We will be on the waterfront trail, there may be puddles, mud, sticks and you may have to move off of the path to go around groups of runners. The trail has been flooded in previous years. We may need to alter the route based on safety requirements. 

  • Markings - we will have KM markers in place along the route and volunteers placed to help ensure people are following the correct path.

  • There will be water stations along the route. Food and water will be available at the end of the run.

All registered adult participants (family walk/run, & 5 KM) receive a t-shirt if registered by April 11th 2020.  The opportunity to purchase additional t-shirts will be provided when you register and on race day for $20.00 each (limited quantities).
